What HARNET stands for.

We exist because Hawaii's makers need more than encouragement. They need practical help, real resources, and a network that knows the islands.

Why we're here

Hawaii is the most expensive state in the country to live and do business. Commercial rents keep climbing, the post-pandemic tourism economy is still uneven, and many of the islands' best makers — the jewelry artists, the food producers, the nonprofit founders — are running their work out of borrowed rooms, kiosks, and home kitchens.

HARNET was built to change that. We bring technical assistance and community connection to the people building Hawaii's local economy from the ground up.

What makes us different

• We're rooted in Hawaii. We understand permitting, shipping, and the realities of island commerce in a way mainland programs don't.
• We work across sectors — for-profit makers and nonprofit organizations alike — because the people building community here often wear both hats.
• We focus on connection as much as instruction. The relationships our members build with each other often matter more than any single workshop.
